who is zoe newton?
Zoe Newton is an acoustic/country singer-songwriter, inspired by celebrated songwriters Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift. Zoe has used songwriting as a way to express her emotions and thoughts from a young age, using only delicate lyrics and a guitar. Zoe’s intimate performance leads you through a stream of country-infused acoustic songs about love, life, and heartbreak.
Zoe has been performing for six years, including performances at The Fleece (Bristol), Bradford Roots Festival, Bath International Music Festival, CalneFest, BBC6 Fringe Festival (Bristol), Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, with a live performance and interview on BBC Radio Wiltshire, and a slot at the Cheese and Grain supporting Aston Merrygold.
The If I could EP
With a recording process that included just a living room, three dogs and musical genius Isaac Francis, the intimacy of If I Could is clear from the first note. Zoe shares her secrets with us recklessly, and each track represents a different moment in her life: falling in love, falling out of love, moving out, and losing a friend. Whilst these songs are so personal to Zoe, they still strike a chord with so many of us who have felt the same way in our own lives. Hints of mandolin and flicks of electric guitar mixed with her familiar acoustic guitar gives If I Could an instant country feel, heightened by the storytelling lyrics and unusual harmonies.
